A recent tweet by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration or NHTSA warns of the risk of pedestrian injury nationally.  According to the NHTSA, a pedestrian is killed every 1.5 hours in car accidents and traffic crashes.  The tweet urged drivers everywhere to be aware of pedestrians where ever they travel.  The release recommended “extra caution when driving in hard-to-see conditions, such as nighttime or bad weather.”

The increase in fatal pedestrian accidents reminds all of us of two facts:

• Pedestrians are no match for a motor vehicle, and
• Wrongful death in a pedestrian accident is becoming much more common
